Dangers of Blue Light

The dangers of Blue light lurk everywhere in our daily lives, if that is from our tablets or spending hours at working sitting in front of a screen. Did you know that the average adult spends close to 10 hours in front of one type of screen of another, according to The Nielson Company Audience Report .  What does all this mean to you? First we need to have a basic understanding of light and how light moves. As you may know light is made up of millions of electromagnetic particles (Photons) these electromagnetic particles make up what is formally called wave lengths. Wave lengths are measure in nanometers (nm), each nanometer is about 1 billionth of a meter.  Shorter the wavelength, the more energy. Blue-violet  light(commonly found today) has an extremely short wave length, causing more energy to be absorbed by the eye and causing possible irreversible damage.  MD or Macular degeneration is a common system of over exposes to Blue-violet light. There is no cure for MD, causes loss in the center of the field of vision. In dry Macular degeneration, the center of the retina deteriorates. With wet Macular degeneration, leaky blood vessels grow under the retina while  blurred vision is a key symptom. All ages can be affected by MD, around the age of 20+ the chance of coming upon MD is much greater. As we spend more and more time on our electronic devices the chance's of MD will continue to sky rocket.  

We recommend that any time you are faced with being in front of any type of screen you protect you self with a pair of 100% Bleu Light blocking glasses. There are many glasses out there that filter some blue light ex: 35%,50%,70% etc but why would you want anything besides 100% when it comes to your health and future!
